Two Top

Trailhead: 44o41'9.51"N, 111o15'15.78"W

Near West Yellowstone is a beautiful ride called Two Top Trail. This ride has one of the best views of any rides I have ridden. When you are on the top, you can see Hebgen Lake in Montana, Henry's Lake in Idaho, and way off in the distance you can see Island Park Reservoir.

To get to the trailhead head for West Yellowstone though Island park on US Hwy 20.

Drive a few miles past the Montana border until you see some small town. If you get to the town of West Yellowstone you are about 10 miles to far.

You can park and ride both Lion's Head and Two Top without moving your rig. To get to Lion's head you turn left, to get to Two Top you turn right and unload. The only problem may be that the trail that leads to the first forest service road had a sign saying no ATV's. This showed up after I rode the trail early last summer. When we went to ride the trail a second time, a paper sign had been placed on the fence indicating no ATV's, but a forest service "post" sign showed that ATV's were legal. I will have to check with the Forest Service on this one, as maybe a some local cabin owner decided to place the no ride sign. If the little trail that leads to the forest service roads doesn't allow ATV's anymore, the best place to park for this ride is in West Yellowstone.
Note: we have sinced called the forest service and they said that the trail is open to ATV's. It was probably some local that doesn't want the trail open that posted the sign, but the forest ranger we talked to said he was positive it was open for ATV use.

There are lots of trails in the area, so if you don't have all day, just download the kml file and load it into you GPS. This can be done with DNR Garmin, free software that can load a KML into just about any Garmin GPS that can be hooked up to a computer.
