Not to far from Howe is a kicking ride to Jumpoff Peak. This is another premier ride and one I will go back to again and again. There are a lot of rides that end with a spectacular view from some high peak. This ride is almost entirely a spectacular view as you ride the ridges that look down on the Howe valley.

To get to the trailhead from Idaho Falls, head north on US 20 like you are going to Arco. Go past the US20/US26 junction about 10 miles or so, and turn right when you see the sign to go to Howe onto Hwy 33.

Drive another 10 or 15 miles until you see a gravel pit and park and unload. There is something that looks like a gravel pit and we almost parked there, but luckily we had GPSd the coordinates and realized the real gravel pit was another 5 miles down the road. If you don't have GSP just use the photos to identify the location. It is right off the road.

From here we headed west to Howe Peak. Howe Peak is a couple miles out of the way to Jumpoff Peak, but it is worth the time as it has beautiful views. The trails in this area area all very nice pickup trails as they have to maintain the radio towers on both Howe Peak and Jumpoff Peak. Once you get past Jumpoff Peak, though, they turn into ATV trails.

This is quite a long ride, and if you want to cut it shorter, I would trailer up to the north trailhead (see GoogleMap) and ride from there to Jumpoff Peak and then turn around and go back. This is by far the prettiest part of the ride (in my opinion), and should cut a couple of hours off your riding time.
