Located just outside of Pocatello is Blackrock Canyon. This trail system is some of the funnest riding around. Lots of great scenery, lots of good climbing, and lots of trails make for a great day on an ATV.
To get there, just drive through Pocatello going south, and as I-15 turns east, take the first exit.
As you get off the freeway, take a left and drive about a half mile or so until you can take a left that goes under the freeway. Follow that road for about another mile and you are at the trailhead.

The trails usually open around April 15, and there are lots of people the first few weekends of the season. You may even have a hard time finding parking, but as the summer goes on, it gets better. There are lot of different types of trails, from cutting through the trees to climbing really steep loose gravel trails. Some of the climbs are a little steep but my riding buddy made all but one little stretch in 2-wheel drive. He brought his big Yamaha Grizzly 4x4, but after riding the trails, he wished he would have brought his Kawasaki KFX 400 sport-quad instead, even if it meant missing that one little stretch.
The trailhead has restrooms, an unloading dock, and picnic tables. There is even a map of the trails system. What a great place for a picnic and ride with the family.
