Located about 20 miles northwest of Mud Lake is Eight Mile Canyon. It is a premier place to ride ATVs and dirt bikes, and a great place to camp. We camp there almost every summer and get lots of fun riding in.

To get there, head through Mud Lake and take Highway 28 like you're going to Salmon. Once you turn onto Highway 28, it is about 20 miles to the turnoff.

There are two road you can turn on. The first is the easy way and is recognizable because there is a gray metal building on the left (west) side of the road.

Take this road and follow the signs.

The other road is a bit further down the road, and if you take this route you will have to fiord Birch Creek.

There is an outhouse at the trailhead, and plenty of places to park or camp.

From this point there is a network of trails to ride. Some are pretty calm while others are down-right scary, so you will need a 4x4 ATV.
